Mechanism of Action

Stanozolol is a 17α-alkylated DHT derivative modified with a pyrazole ring (at A-ring), which enhances anabolic activity while reducing androgenic effects. The 17α-alkylation enables oral bioavailability by resisting hepatic first-pass metabolism. As a DHT derivative, stanozolol cannot aromatize to estrogen (no 3-keto group) and is not a substrate for 5α-reductase. It increases protein synthesis and nitrogen retention while exhibiting mild erythropoietic effects. Unlike testosterone esters, stanozolol does not cause water retention, making it studied for lean physique enhancement.
