ARA 290 improves symptoms in patients with sarcoidosis-associated small nerve fiber loss and increases corneal nerve fiber density.
A blinded placebo-controlled sarcoidosis study reported improved neuropathic symptoms and corneal nerve-fiber density after 28 days; the findings remain exploratory.

Research summary
The trial examined patients with documented sarcoidosis-associated small nerve-fiber loss. The authors reported improvement in neuropathic symptoms, an increase in corneal small nerve-fiber density, changes in cutaneous temperature sensitivity, and increased six-minute walk performance following 28 days of treatment.
Limitations and interpretation
Early, short-duration findings require independent confirmation. Corneal imaging is a surrogate biomarker and does not itself establish durable clinical benefit. This publication should not be counted as independent confirmation of every result in later studies from the same development program.
