ARA-290
Cibinetide: an investigational erythropoietin-derived peptide studied in small-fiber neuropathy and tissue-protection research.
Mechanism of Action
ARA-290 (cibinetide) is an 11-amino-acid peptide engineered from the helix-B surface of erythropoietin to study tissue-protective signaling without stimulating red-cell production. It is commonly described as acting through an innate repair receptor involving EPOR and the beta-common receptor CD131. Receptor-knockout animal experiments support CD131-dependent effects, but direct association of the extracellular EPOR/CD131 domains remains disputed by biophysical studies. Anti-inflammatory and neuroprotective effects in models and early human trials do not establish broad clinical efficacy.
